Protection Island is a small community of forested parks and beautiful beaches located in the harbour ofdowntown Nanaimo. A 10 min ferry or boat ride takes you across to Harbour Air Seaplanes, Helijet and BCFerries - live in paradise but with easy access to all big city amenities. This undeveloped lot awaits yourvacation cottage or full-time residence. Located across from Pirates Park & Mud Bay Dock, it's also a shortwalk to the Dinghy Dock Pub & Ferry service. Our island is home to 350 residents and has a community hall, library, museum, community garden, fire station and boat ramp. Several group activities are offered year-round, including art, music and drop-in sports. Protection is part of the City of Nanaimo and is serviced by municipal water & sewer, BC Hydro, Shaw and Talus. NOTE: Protection Island is exempt from BC's Speculation Tax.
