Your Weekend Game Plan: June 13–15 in Parksville & Qualicum Beach

Hey friends,
Can you believe we’re already halfway through June? And if you're looking for something fun to do this weekend (and want to treat Dad to something special), you’re in luck—Parksville and Qualicum Beach are buzzing with activity from Friday, June 13 to Sunday, June 15. From classic cars to live music, food trucks to farmers’ markets, there's no shortage of things to enjoy.
Let’s map out a weekend you’re going to love
First—The Weather’s Looking Pretty Great
- Friday: Sunny with a bit of a breeze, around 19°C (65°F)—perfect for a patio or evening stroll.
- Saturday: Mix of sun and cloud, hitting 19°C (66°F)—ideal day for exploring.
- Sunday (Father’s Day!): A little warmer at 21°C (70°F) with morning sunshine—BBQ weather for sure.
Friday Night: Cruise Night at the Parksville Curling Rink
This is one of my favourite low-key community events. Head down to the Parksville Curling Rink around 4 p.m. to check out some beautiful classic cars. There’s something nostalgic about it—the smell of polish, the rumble of engines, and the stories that come with every chrome bumper.
Grab something tasty from the food trucks, hang out with neighbours, and stick around for the 7 p.m. cruise through town. It’s a vibe.
Saturday Morning: Farmers’ Market & Local Arts
If you’re up early on Saturday, take a wander through the Qualicum Beach Farmers' Market. It's one of the best on the Island—tons of local produce, homemade baked goods, and beautiful artisan crafts. It’s a great spot to pick up a Father’s Day gift (or something for yourself—no judgment here).
After that, swing by TOSH (The Old School House Arts Centre) just up the road. They’ve got new exhibits and some interactive art sessions if you’re feeling creative.
Saturday Evening: Street Dance by the Beach
This is where things really come alive! Head down to the waterfront for the Seaside Cruizers Street Dance starting around 6 p.m. Live music, dancing in the street, more food trucks, and an all-around good time. Whether you’re grooving in the crowd or just soaking it in from a lawn chair with something cold in hand, you’ll be glad you went.
Sunday: Father’s Day + Show & Shine in Qualicum Beach
This one’s for the dads. The Seaside Cruizers Father’s Day Show & Shine is happening Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the heart of Qualicum Beach. Picture rows and rows of classic cars, smiling faces, great food, and maybe even a few “back in my day” stories from Dad. It’s wholesome and fun—and you don’t even need to be a gearhead to enjoy it.
If you’re more into brunch than bumpers, Nanoose Bay Café is doing a killer waterfront brunch (great coffee, too). You can follow it up with a beach walk or a lazy afternoon in the sun.
Sunday: Father’s Day + Mini golf at Riptide Lagoon in Parksville
Everyone loves some mini golf, right? On Father’s Day, dads get to play a free round.
Bonus Bits Throughout the Weekend
- Live Music @ Parksville Outdoor Theatre – Friday night rock bands like Nautical Disaster and Whisky Rich take the stage.
- Scholarship Concert at Knox United Church – For something more chill and classical.
- Heritage Forest & Beachfront Trails – Great for a peaceful escape between the action.
So What’s the Move?
Honestly, whether you’re chasing loud engines or quiet views, this weekend has something for you. And if you’re visiting from out of town or thinking about calling this place home (and who could blame you), don’t hesitate to reach out—I’m always happy to show people what makes this community so special.
Hope to see you out and about—and Happy Father’s Day to all the awesome dads out there!
Cheers,
Kirk
